2014.07.10: Thank you so much for agreeing to do this.  I'm excited and I hope you are too.  Hopefully I don't have too many instructions.  Here we go ...
  • There are two scenes for you to film. (When I wrote the script, I realized that there needed to be a bit more, I hope that's okay) Both are quite short and I filmed examples below.
  • As long as it is school appropriate, I don't care what you wear in the videos.
  • Please film for a few seconds before and after the video to allow me to add transitions if necessary.
  • Please give me at least two takes to choose from for each video.
  • Please do not edit the videos, I will do that.  Just give me "full quality" video.  In other words, export/share as a "file".
  • When you have the files, you can share with me via Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.
  • If you need any technical help of any sort, don't hesitate to ask.
  • I am planning to give credit to y'all in the comments.  I'll plan to use full names, unless you would prefer something else. If you would like me to include a website or a twitter handle, just let me know.
Instructions for this video:
  • Please use a tripod (or place the camera on something that doesn't move).  In order for my green screened part to work, the camera has to be stationary.
  • Please place the camera about 5 feet off the ground.
  • It's okay if it isn't in your school with a chalkboard/whiteboard.  I know it is summer and school might not be accessible.  Just make it somewhere that looks like one might film there.
  • I don't really care what you say to one another, just idle chatter for a few seconds as you walk in and then pause and apologize and then leave the way you came in, just like above.
  • Jacyln, would you like credit for this idea in the comments of the video?
  • Below are videos with just me and just you three, for reference sake.
  • Please print out this sign and attach it to a door as shown in the video.
  • Again please use a tripod.
  • I would prefer to have all three of you in the video. It would have been a lot harder to get 3 of me in this one.

2014.06.30: One of my takeaways from FlipCon14 is that I should make 3 short videos:

The basic idea is to take the suggestions from my presentation and make them into short, easily digestible video chunks.  One of my suggestions is to collaborate with colleagues.  Well, I don't work at a school anymore, so really, it's people like you that I can collaborate with and I should really model that in my videos

So, would you like to collaborate with me?  Please?

My general idea is that I would film myself on a green screen saying something like, "For example, you could have some of your colleges (you 3 walk in  chatting loudly) walk into the classroom while you are filming and pretend to be annoyed that they are disturbing you. (turn to intruders and speaking angrily) Did you not see the sign? I'm filming a flipping video here!"

Yes, Jaclyn, your suggestion will certainly be in my "Basics" video.

The green screen would work essentially like what happens 11 seconds into the video below.

The three of you would film yourselves walking into the classroom chatting loudly and then huff your way back out after being chastised by me.

If only 2 of you can do it, that's fine.  If you are willing to do it, I'll give you more specific instructions.
