If you are thinking "I want to help you out ... but I don't know how ..."
I have had a lot of people ask me, "Jon, how can I help you out? I love your videos, I love the Flipping Physics concept, however, I don't know how to help." (okay, I am paraphrasing a bit, however, you get the idea.) Well, here is a list of things that you can do to help.

|
- You could SHARE YOUR FLIPPING STORY!!!
- Join my social media: FaceBook, Twitter or Tumblr.
- Give Flipping Physics five stars on FaceBook.
- Post something on Reddit. (Do you understand Reddit? Because I sure don't.)
- If you are multi-lingual, you could translate subtitles.
- You can be a part of my Quality Control Team or even Collaborate with me.
- If you are a teacher, you could post a supporting comment on one of my videos. That way I can post them on my teacher comment page and other teachers will know you and your students find them useful.
- If you are feeling especially fashionable, you could purchase a Flipping Physics T-Shirt. Then, you could take a picture of yourself wearing said Flipping Physics apparel and email it to me for my “Fabulous Flipping Physics Fan Photos” page!
- Contact Ellen Degeneres and let her know you think I should be on her show.
- And if you have made it all the way down to here, I congratulate you. Honestly, my biggest issue is funding. My family relinquishes roughly half a teacher's salary annually to allow me the time to make Flipping Physics videos. I have contacted the following institutions and people for help: The Lumina Foundation, The Mott Foundation, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The Tides Foundation, The MacArthur Foundation, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Jeff Daniels, Barack Obama, Debbie Dingell, Debbie Stabenow, Dean Kamen, Jeff Daniels, Elon Musk, Ellen Degeneres, and many more. So, if you know of where I could get a grant or funding for Flipping Physics, please let me know.
2019-09-10: Honestly, I need your help. If you consider my videos valuable, there are two issues you can help me with.
1) My YouTube channel is floundering.
2) I need your financial support.
Let’s start with the first issue; the floundering of the Flipping Physics YouTube channel. At first glance you may not think it is. Sure 5.8 million views and 43 thousand subscribers sounds impressive, however, the growth rate of my channel has slowed considerably and without help from people like you, it will likely continue that way. For example, despite the hundreds of hours I have spent making more than 50 videos during the last 12 months, my number of views has actually decreased over the last 12 months relative to the previous 12 months. That is a serious problem.
How can you help my YouTube channel? Please subscribe to my channel, “ring” the bell, and watch and like my new videos. What does “ring” the bell mean? After you click the “subscribe” button, a “bell” icon appears next to “subscribed”. When you click on the bell and select “send me all notifications from this channel”, you will receive a notification every time I release a new video. Then you can watch the new video and “like” it as well. If y’all can create a groundswell of support, that would be swell. In fact, if you use my videos with students, please encourage them to do so as well.
The second issue has to do with money. It takes time to make these high quality Flipping Physics videos. In order to have that time, I teach part-time. I receive 40% of a full teacher’s salary and have to pay 60% of the health insurance premiums for my family. The net result is that I teach for health insurance for my family. In other words, I make almost no money from being 40% of a full time teacher. That means my only salary is from Flipping Physics. I make roughly $0.002 per view. To put that in perspective, consider that my four most recent videos have averaged roughly 400 views each. That works out to be about $0.80 per video. And each of those videos took me on average about 25 hours to make.
How can you help me financially? Support me on Patreon. Supporting me on Patreon, means you will be giving a few dollars every month. The videos I make will likely never go “viral”. They are not “edutainment”. They are full on educational videos. I do not eschew equations; I embrace them. If you, or your students find my videos to be helpful for learning physics, please help me teach the world physics.
