2016.12.14: It Is Finished!!! (I hope)
Above is the "finished" version of the video. If you find a typo or something you feel needs to be fixed, please let me know. My plan is to publish this video on Thursday, 2016.12.22. Here are few things I would like from you please:
Thank you again for all your help with this project. It has been a long and worthwile process!
- Your Twitter handle: So I can tweet about how awesome it was to work with you.
- Your YouTube channel username or URL: So I can add your role as collaborator.
- Your website link: So I can link to it in the description of the video.
Thank you again for all your help with this project. It has been a long and worthwile process!
2016.10.19: I have put together everything I currently have and below is the current status of our project.
I am very happy with what we have so far; hopefully you are too. Here are my thoughts about what is needed:
- Zeller, Segal, and Sourvelis, Please let me know if you would like any of your overlaid text changed.
- Morey and Thomas, I would appreciate your parts when you can get them done.
2016.08.12: Thank you to all of you for sharing your approaches to physics labs in the classroom and being willing to help me film this video. I'm excited. Please start by glancing through the script and then watching the preliminary video I made for this:
From each of you I need:
- (2 of these) Video of you looking directly at the camera and saying the first line or two of your part.
- (2 of these) Video of you saying the middle of your part. Note: B-roll will be on screen during this, so I will just be using the audio.
- (2 of these) Video of you saying the last line of your part. For example, Mrs. Zeller says, "Mr. P, now it's your turn" and pauses for 5 seconds for transition while looking toward Mr. P.
- Please identify where you are in the frame so you can turn toward the next person while saying their name.
- Pictures and scans for B-roll. Pictures of lab setup, scans of student lab write ups, etc.
- (2 of these) Video of you saying "Good morning!" and then waiting for 15 seconds while Mr. P introduces the video.
- It would be great if you could look at Mr. P briefly after saying "Good morning!"
- 60 seconds of video of you looking at the camera. This is for the transition times between teachers.
- Again, it would be great if you could take part of this time to look toward some of the other teachers in the video.
- (2 of these) Video of you looking at the camera for 10 seconds and then saying "You're welcome!" and then looking at the camera for 10 seconds. This is for the end of the video.
- Again again, if you can look briefly at Mr. P, that would be great.
- A couple of outtakes. There will be many. This is for the last 20 seconds of the video where I put the YouTube annotations.
- A signed video release form.
Name Pronunciations: Please take a moment to email me a description of how to say your name.
- Mrs. Zeller → pronounced correctly here.
- Mr. P → "Pee" [like "to micturate"]
- Mr. Thomas → ???
- Mr. Segal → ???
- Mrs. Morey → More + E - the word more and the letter e (or Moor like Othello and the letter e) :)
- Mr. Sourvelis→ [Sur_vel_is]; or [Sr_velis]
With regards to "your part":
- You all emailed me a preliminary description. Please use that as the outline for creating your dialogue.
- These shouldn't be very long. Mine is roughly 1 minute. I think each of us should try for about that length.
When filming, please:

Laura Zeller, I gave you the hardest part, congrats. When you say "Good morning!" you need to pause for the exact right amount of time before launching into "your part". In other words you say, "Good morning! [11-12 second pause] Sure Mr.P. In my physics classes we have 2 types of labs." Sounds easy doesn't it? The easiest way to do this to put a timer in front of you and watch the time roll by. FYI: It's actually about 10.5 seconds, however, speeding up the video slightly is a lot less noticeable than slowing it down. Could you give me 3 takes of this just in case the first two don't work?
THANK YOU ALL!!! I know it seems like a lot, however, I think this video will be really great when it is done. Please, read through all of this and contact me with whatever questions you have before you start filming.

p.s. This will most likely take several months to complete. I know I won't be able to take pictures for my b-roll until mid-September at least. I went in to the school in early August to take b-roll pictures and the entire contents of my room were pilled in a storage closet.
