Ken, Ray, Nicole & Audrey!
2014.09.12: It's finally done! Thank you so much Ken, Ray, Nicole & Audrey!
2014.08.13: I have received all of your videos, thank you! I have edited them together, however, I haven't finished editing my part of the video. I filmed it in July, however, I overestimated how much I would be able to get done in August while my kids are at home and I am pretty darn sure I won't have this video (and the other accompanying 2) done until early September. Below is a screenshot to whet your appetite.
In the meantime, could you please sign my Video Release Form? I forgot that I would need y'all to do this for me and I probably should have asked for it up front.
Also, if you have any links, etc, that you would like me to include when I thank you in the description of the video, please let me know.

2014.07.10: Thank you so much for agreeing to do this. I'm excited and I hope you are too. Hopefully I don't have too many instructions. Here we go ...
- As long as it is school appropriate, I don't care what you wear in the videos.
- Please film for a few seconds before and after the video to allow me to add transitions if necessary.
- Please use a tripod (or place the camera on something stationary) and have the camera at about eye level.
- Please give me at least two takes to choose from. :)
- Please do not edit the videos, I will do that. Just give me "full quality" video. In other words, export/share as a "file".
- When you have the files, you can share with me via Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.
- If you need any technical help of any sort, don't hesitate to ask.
- I am planning to give credit to y'all in the comments. I'll plan to use full names, unless you would prefer something else. If you would like me to include a website or a twitter handle, just let me know.
Below is my example of what the video will end up looking like:
Each individual video looks like this:
Ray
|
Audrey
|
Ken
|
Nicole
|
Individual Instructions: (remember to add a bit of just pausing at the beginning and end for good measure)
I know this is too many instructions. Please let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything. Again Thanks!
- Ray: Wait for 10 seconds, say then say "Clearly it is Billy because he wears a bow tie!".
- (5 seconds) Glance to you left to listen to Audrey.
- (5 seconds) Look to your lower left to listen to Nicole.
- (5 seconds) Shake your head in disgust at Nicole & Audrey.
- Audrey: Wait for 10 seconds.
- (5 seconds) Glance to your left to listen to Ray.
- say, "Bo doesn't ever take notes, so clearly he's the smartest."
- (5 seconds) Look down to listen to Nicole.
- (5 seconds) Shake your head in disgust at Ray & Nicole.
- Nicole: (20 seconds) Nervously look around to your right, upper right and up.
- say, "I think it has to be, uh, Bobby, 'cause, um," and run out to your left.
- (5 seconds) not in the screen at all
- Ken: (your's is the hardest because you speak twice!)
- say, "Today we are going to discuss which Flipping Physics student you think is the smartest, Billy, Bobby, or Bo. You each have 5 seconds, go!
- (5 seconds) glance up to listen to Ray
- (5 seconds) glance up and left to listen to Audrey
- (5 seconds) glance left to listen to Nicole
- say, "Well it sounds like we haven't quite reached a definitive conclusion yet."
- Because of the variance in time in the middle of yours, could you please give me at least 3 video clips & if you have a camera that can film at any rate able 30 frames per second, it would be great if you could use that.
I know this is too many instructions. Please let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything. Again Thanks!
2014.06.30: One of my takeaways from FlipCon14 is that I should make 3 short videos:
So, would you like to collaborate with me? Please?
My general idea is that I would say something like, "You don't even need to be in the same country to collaborate about important topics!"
Cut to four talking heads, each in one quadrant of the screen:
Person #1, "Today we are going to discuss which Flipping Physics Student is the smartest, Billy, Bobby or Bo. You each have 5 seconds, Go!"
Person #2, "Clearly it is Billy because he wears a bow tie!"
Person #3, "No, Bo never takes notes, so Bo must be the smartest."
Person #4, "Actually, it must be Bobby because, Uh, Uh, (look scared & exit the screen)"
Other 3 People all speaking together:
#1, "Well I'm not really sure we've come to any definitive conclusion here."
#2, (turning to #3), "Bow Tie's Rule!"
#4, (turning to #2), "Bo doesn't even need a calculator."
[end scene]
The above is just an initial rough draft. It y'all agree then I'll give you much more specific directions.
So, let me know if you are interested. And please do, I think it will be fun to do.
Jon
2014.06.30: Ken, Nicole and Audrey are up for the challenge! We've got Mexico, Mars and Canada. Hoping for Taiwan...
2014.07.02: Everybody is on board! Now I have to write the script and get better instructions to you. Hopefully I will have that done next week. Thanks again everybody. Let's enjoy this, eh?
