The Next 24 Hours.

In the next 24 hours, you will be able to see me in three different places:
  1. Tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 PM I will be helping to judge the 4th annual Ann Arbor Pioneer Science Fair.  Stop by and say “Hi” if you are in the area.
  2. Tonight from 9 to 10 PM, hopefully, I will get my 90 seconds of television fame on Detroit Public Televisions (DPTV) program “The American Graduate - A Community Town Hall”.  I was lucky enough to be a part of the taping of the program and I spoke about the concept of flipping education for about 90 seconds.  If my talking doesn’t make the final exit, at least you will be able to see me smile and nod appropriately.  If you aren’t able to get DPTV where you live, don’t worry, I will post a link as soon as I am able.
  3. Tomorrow at Mercy High School’s Tech Talk, I will be running breakout sessions entitled "How and Why to Flip Your Classroom”.

Yep, it’s going to be an exciting 24 hours.

I am pretty darn excited about today’s video post and considering my posts about new videos have by far the least amount of reach, engagement, likes, etc., I know you are too.  So let me tell you why this video post is so exciting.  It is because it represents the completion of the solutions to the 1998 AP Physics C exam and it totals more than 4 hours of video.  This endeavor took me almost 2 months to complete and I am really hoping it will be worth it.
For those of you who are taking or who have taken AP Physics C or it’s college equivalent, I am curious if your observation about the relationship between Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism is the same as mine.  I have always felt that E&M is more difficult than Mechanics.  For example, that the electric flux is the measure of the number of imaginary electric field lines that are passing through an imaginary gaussian surface is much more difficult to understand than the fact that the object is rolling without slipping, right?  So here is what I think is a useful comparison.  After filming, I had 8.5 hours of raw video to edit for Mechanics and 12 hours of video for E&M.  I know it’s a difficult thing to quantify, however, does that seem right that E&M is roughly 40% more difficult than Mechanics? [(12 - 8.5)/8.5 x 100 ≈ 40%]  I’d be interested to know if people agree with that observation. And kudos to you if you actually read this far into my post, that’s real commitment. :)

American Graduate

Thanks for all the well wishes!  It went pretty well last night on the taping of American Graduate Community Town Hall.  I got to do some hobnobbing, meet Christy McDonald of Detroit Public Television and talk for about 90 seconds on camera about flipping in education. Hopefully my part will make the final edit and be on the airing of the show on Thursday, February 27th at 9 PM. If you don't get Detroit Public Television, they will post a version online shortly after the airing. I'll post a link when they do. Thanks again for your support!

Wish Me Luck Tonight!

I have been invited to be involved in the taping of a Detroit Public Television program called "American Graduate".  It will be moderated by Christy McDonald and is going to be in a Community Town Hall format.  There will be no panel, instead it will be a conversation between the moderator and the audience.  I'm not really sure what my role will be other than as an audience expert on Flipping in Education.  Wish me luck tonight!

Yep, I make physics videos in the hope that you can learn physics.  If you are a physics teacher, I am very hopeful that you will want to use them to help flip your physics class.
