Nerd-A-Pult – Measuring Initial Velocity

A major component of using the Nerd-A-Pult is measuring the initial velocity of the projectile. Turns out it wasn’t such an easy task, so I made a video showing exactly how I did.

Please enjoy the Nerd-A-Pult. I was very excited when I found it at the Michigan Renaissance Festival last summer. It is a perfect example of Projectile Motion. My family even got involved in showing its marshmallow capabilities during the 1st minute of the video.

It's 10 PM EST and I am going to bed. Get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, limber up before the exam and find your right hand. Remember to enjoy the exam tomorrow. I am so happy to be able to help y'all out. Sorrry to those of you that need to take the AP Bio exam right before the AP Physics exam, that's just cruel.

One question that always come up whenever we start projectile motion is, “Why don’t we include air resistance in our calculations?” Well, this video is the answer. You have to use Numerical Modeling a.k.a. The Euler Method, it is way beyond where we are at this point in our physics learning, it has so many calculations that you should use a spreadsheet and it is a lot of work. Enjoy!
